USA Youth Karate National Champion: Kaleb Murphy

Hello everyone! This week I want to highlight one of our youngest clients at Strength School, Kaleb Murphy. Kaleb is a member of our southside gym, from the Franklin Township area in Indianapolis, and currently in the 7th grade. He's been working out at the gym for just over a year, and also plays baseball and excels in several forms of martial arts.

Last month, Kaleb and his family traveled to Chicago for the USA National Karate Championships. And . . . Kaleb took 1st place for his division in Kata, a specific form of karate, making him a national champion at the age of 12 - great job Kaleb!

We are really proud of Kaleb's success and his work ethic. He's a naturally explosive kid, with great jumping ability. So at the gym, Kaleb's coach, Alyx, has been helping him with his strength, power, and balance, all of which help Kaleb in both karate and baseball. To keep things fun, Alyx also integrates drills for hand-eye coordination into Kaleb's workouts. And for a challenge, Kaleb occasionally hops in and does exercises with his dad, Joe, who is also a client at Strength School.

On top of karate, baseball, and Strength School, he's also a straight-A student. The future is bright for this kid.
